Dr. Josephy Aniello

Since our inception in 2007, F.I.T. has grown to over 100 members and over $12 million dollars in written premium. As we enter our 5th year of operation the Trust has become a leading provider of insurance products and services to Florida’s Social Services Agencies.

2011 has started as a very challenging year to our Social Services members. The state legislature is making substantial cuts to the state budget, while natural catastrophes around the world have driven the cost of insurance beyond the means of most agencies. F.I.T. is helping our membership on both issues. First, the Trust has been on the front lines of supporting legislation to keep government cuts to a minimum, as well as, sponsoring legislation to get most of our members the same Sovereign Immunity tort caps the cities and counties enjoy.

In this issue of FIT News, Don Noel raises the question, “Do you know the cost of continuing your operation should your current location be closed due to various natural and human disasters?” in our new dedicated section, “Do You Know What You Are Buying?”. I encourage each of you to make sure you understand the importance of Business Interruption Insurance provided to you within your F.I.T. Policy.

In addition, planning for the 2011 Florida Insurance Trust Educational Retreat has begun. I hope you all will be able to join us on Thursday, October 20, 2011 through Friday, October 21, 2011. We are in the process of lining up high quality speakers on vital topics facing many of us as leaders and members of Florida’s non-profit community.

As always, we appreciate your input and ideas as we continue to grow our insurance program and services. For those of you who are considering participation, we welcome your inquires and look forward to you becoming a member.
